The English International was left frustrated after his side squandered a two goal cushion to draw at Goodison Park on Sunday. After the match, he labelled Everton’s game style as being too direct, claiming that their neighbours like to play long balls to
their attackers, instead of constructing moves.
His comments were met with severe response from the Toffees players, who termed his remarks as being absurd and unreasonable.
Later, the midfielder tendered an apology over his statement, and said that his comments had been taken in a wrong context.

The Goodison Park chief revealed that he was not too concerned about what other people think about their game, as for him, the fans were the real connoisseur.
The Merseyside outfit have been in sublime form recently and currently find themselves in the fifth spot on the league table – six points clear of the twelfth placed Reds.
“I really don't care what people are saying about us. We have to keep doing what we are doing, which is getting results. I think people who have watched us will say we're playing really well,” he told the reporters in an interview.

He put forward the example of the manner in which Chelsea won the Champions League last season, claiming that
