http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes, has lauded the consistency of his side over the last couple of years, but feels that securing a Champions League berth remains an improbable task.
The Scott made his comments after receiving the Premier League manager of the month award for September.
He enjoyed phenomenal success with the Toffees in the preceding month, helping them record commanding wins against Southampton (3-1) and Swansea City (3-0) and play out an enthralling 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.
Their blistering start to the campaign has seen them currently occupy the fourth spot in the table, after having bagged 14 points out of their 7 games.
However, the 49-year old believes that it remained highly unlikely that his team will be able to secure a Champions League berth at the end of the season.
He said that even though they have remained one of the most consistent units over the last decade or so, competing with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Manchester City and Manchester United in the long run was a strenuous task.
However, he stated that he would be satisfied if Everton are able to grab a place in the less glamorous Europa League, and revealed it to be his prime target at the moment.
“With the quality of the Premier League it is really hard to qualify for the Champions League but I wouldn’t say we can’t do it. It is possible and you have to aim for that,” he said.
“If we fall short and end up in the Europa League then so be it, but in recent years we have been pretty close, finishing sixth, seventh or eighth, so we want to do that at the very least.”
Moyes took over the reins of the Merseyside club in March 2002. Since then, he has coached the team in 482 matches in all competitions and enjoys an impressive 42.12 percent win record.
However, he is yet to steer them to a title win under his tenure. The closest he came to winning one was back in 2009 when the Toffees were seconded by Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
Besides that, he also guided them to a Champions League place in 2005.
