Everton manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes thinks that his side were undone by a poor refereeing decision in the Premier League match against Arsenal which led to the hosts defeat.
The 48 year old, who has been in charge of the club for ten years now, was disappointed with the match officials after the assistant referee disallowed a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royston-Drenthe-c31824 and waved the flag for an off-side.. However, the replays suggested that the
goal was disallowed incorrectly as he was behind the defensive line when the pass was made.
Arsenal went in front in the eighth minute at the Goodison Park after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 corner. The host’s quest for an equalizer was quashed by the linesman, when Drenthe put the ball in the net but he was adjudicated
to be in an off-side position.
“There are five which are onside, five decisions, I’ve checked. It’s a goal. We’ve had a sore deal the last few games, we’ve had really poor decisions against us. But it was the assistant tonight who got them wrong.” Moyes said.
The Toffees boss was critical of the decision as he viewed the disallowed goal as an important moment in the context of the match. He admitted that the officials can get a decision or two wrong in the match but said that the verdict against Drenthe had cost
his side the match.
He thought that his side fought really well after a disappointing start to the game, when Vermaelen put the Gunners in front. He believed his side deserved to come out with a point from the match.
“You can say you can get one wrong, but it’s really poor deal. It’s cost us in the end, cost us trying to get something back after a disappointing start, I thought the players played really well after that [opening goal], I thought they gave it a right go.”
Moyes said.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in the first 20 minutes of the match but later
played as good as their opponents.
Arsenal won the match 1-0 and have now won their last six Premier League matches. The win also elevated the Gunners to the third spot in the table.
On the other hand, the defeat kept Everton in the tenth place on a better goal difference than Stoke City. Both the sides have 37 points from their 29 matches.
