Everton boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes, believes that a win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday will give a big boost to their Europa League prospects.
The Goodison Park outfit have amassed 23 points from their 15 matches and trail the London-based team by three points. They will go head to head against Andre Villas Boas’ men at home on Sunday in what promises to be an electrifying league fixture.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 have not lost a single match at home this campaign. However, the men in blue have been short of points recently, collecting just 9 from their last 8 matches.
The Spurs, on the other hand, have experienced a topsy-turvy season so far. A series of disappointing losses had put their Champions League ambitions in doubts at one stage. However, three back to back wins has set them back on track, pushing them up to the fourth place in the table.
Although the Toffees have put up impressive displays at Goodison Park, the Everton chief feels that they will be up against a very formidable opponent on Sunday.
The Scott assessed that his side will have a good chance of finishing inside the top-six if they are able to secure all three points against Tottenham, but warned them that it won’t be an easy stroll in the park for them.
“To finish above Tottenham would give you a great chance to be in Europe, that’s for sure,” Moyes is reported to have said.
“But I think Tottenham are a good side with some really good players, so it will be a big challenge for us.”
Tottenham, who finished fourth in the table last term, qualified for Champions League back in 2010 under Harry Redknapp’s management. The team enjoyed a successful European campaign, bowing out of the competition in the quarterfinal against Real Madrid.
Moyes stressed acknowledged the achievements of his Sunday opponents, and feels that are one of the frontrunners for the CL slot this season as well.
“They were great in the Champions League with Harry (Redknapp) a year or so ago and this year they’ve done well to qualify for the next stages of the Europa League,” he added.
