Mp3 player USB recharge and file transfer

Question

Every time I connect my Sony Walkman mp3 player to the computer via USB to transfer songs it starts recharging itself, even if it's not empty.

Is this bad for the battery and how can I make it only transfer songs when connected, not recharge ?

Yea pretty sure there's no way to stop it aye. You'd think it would be bad for it though, but thats how they're designed do I guess its fine. Oh and btw, mine does it too.
