Mp4 to AVI for Windows Movie Maker?

Question

I'm having HUGE troubles. First of all, I can't find a good Mp4 to AVI video converter. Second, when I find one and convert my Mp4 video to AVI, I don't see the pictures, I mean the clip itself I can't see. The only thing I can HEAR is the music. I tried importing it to Windows Movie Maker, but it says there are errors etc. So, do any of you guys know the solution to my problem?
