If i were to burn an mpg or mpeg file to a dvd would it be compatible on a dvd player. If so which file type would you recomend.

  2. DVD movies use the MPEG coding standard, but the actual files have a .vob extension.  

    You need to use DVD authoring software that will also create the proper index files.
