Mr Goodenough confident to earn fourth straight success
Punchestown has always been Mr Goodenough’s cup of tea. Interesting to note is the fact that he has registered four of his total 5 triumphs at this venue. Straight from his fabulous hat-trick, the John F. Robinson trained and owned bay gelding is going to test his credentials over there once again.
On Wednesday, the eight-year-old veteran horse will run Punchestown Annual Membership 2013 Handicap Chase over the soft course of 2 miles and 4 furlongs. In the €6,900 race, he will face 11 competitors.
The venue, the surface and the distance all go to the Irish gelding’s favour, thus, his success is indispensible. Majority of his fans believe that Mr Goodenough will go unchallenged as none of his rivals is strong enough to halt him.
This is partially true as Bangonform has enough potential to give a tough time to Robinson’s star.
Mr Goodenough has proved his class at different race venues. The best thing about him is consistency. Since debuting in October 2008, he has been at the top of his game.
This season has proved to be the best time of his career. On February 12, the son of Witness Box out of Lady Medina marvelloulsy won TRI Confined Hunt Winners Race (4yo Mdns Excl) by beating Enniskillen with the margin of two lengths.
He moved ahead to grab the ace title of the Star Spreads Tetratema Perpetual Cup Hunters Chase on March 10. That race went down at Gowran Park.
Mr Goodenough beautifully completed his hat-trick by finishing first in the KFM Hunters Chase (Bishopscourt Cup). That race was held at Punchestown on May 9.
All three were brilliant performances indeed. The skilled horse will repeat the same in the coming contest as well.
For his epic track record and excellent form, Mr Goodenough is likely to get the favourite tag. Despite all these factors, he will have to face the wrath of Bangonform who is coming straight from his classy victory of October 12 when he beat Bachelor Affair by 8 lengths to win @tramoreraces On Twitter Handicap Chase.
Thus, we must expect a rip-roaring clash between these two geldings. Good luck to the both.
