Question

It has come to my attention that there are many people out there, who think jim morrison and the rest of the doors, are a bunch of drunken buffoons. I would like to know R&p's opinion about the doors. So feel free to write ur honest opinions.

Jim was the only one who had an addiction to alcohol, and Betty Ford was after Jim&#039;s death so he had no real help. No one did at that time.

As a nurse I find his life fascinating, and his death pathetic. How horrible it must have been to fight the demons of alcoholism and not have any treatment to combat that...I can not imagine it.

They were all well educated, had influences that were obscure, read beyond the common literary choices for their age and time.

I love Jim, he was smart, shy, gracious, funny, and I will admit somewhat bonkers. Not a buffoon by any means, his IQ was 149 which is genius.

The Doors are my favorite band.

Those people who think Jim and The Doors are &#039;drunken buffoons&#039; as you so put it - are ******* idiots.

So here is my honest opinion.

I think geniuses often have severe problems which they need some sort of medium to alleviate their problems and to escape from their thoughts - genius comes with many a problem. Jim Morrison&#039;s happened to be alcohol. Alcoholism is a sad and unfortunate disease, and the fact that Jim [most likely] had it, does not in ANY way, take away from his incredible creativity and genius. People who say that, are obviously musically retarded.

PS - The Doors are my favourite band, and there is a reason for that - that band made incredible music that will never be matched in style.

PPS - I wouldn&#039;t stick up for The Doors solely because they&#039;re my favourite band  - this, is all very true.

They were definetly not, jim morrison showed signs at a very young age of  being extremly artistic, and having a very high iq, boarderline genius. And if he and ray manzerik could get into UCLA film school, they arent that stupid. Actuly I have always seen the doors as the most intelligent band, with their ideas, musical complexity etc.

Jim was definitely a drunk, but that doesn&#039;t necessarily make him a buffoon. Personally, they&#039;re one of my favorite bands and Morrison is one of my favorite vocalists...
