Mri scan - the noise?

had a second MRI Scan this morning, and have been meaning to ask

what and why is causing all the noise!?

  1. The MRI machine doesn't move at all.  MRI uses a magnetic field + RF waves. The noise you hear are the radio frequencies.

  2. That noise is normal. It is the rotating mechanism of the scanner. Nothing to worry about. The MRI does cross section imaging of your body. Totally harmless, because it is magnetic reflective imaging.They would have given you headphones to listen to music.
