Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs reel in a competitive field of 12 three-year-old fillies to test their mettle on turf
The Grade 2, $ 175,000 Mrs. Revere attracts a competitive and a massive lineup of 12 three-year-old fillies to run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles on turf on 12 November, 2011, at Churchill Downs.
It is going to be a mouthwatering encounter of one of the best and the fast improving fillies in the regions, take Hungry Island for instance who is coming off a fourth place finish to Winter Memories in the Grade 1 Garden City at Belmont Park on 17 September.
The 3-year-old filly showed a lot of heart that day when she was off the mark by only two lengths when she came rallying in late. The Garden City also broke Hungry Island’s four race win streak which was developed right after breaking her maiden.
In that four race win streak, Hungry Island bagged an allowance race at Belmont, won the Recording Stakes over at 1 1/16 miles also at Belmont Park and then went on to win the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga over at 1 1/8 miles on 21 August under
her usual ride Alex Solis.
There are other several top contenders in the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes, who will surely come out strong to challenge Hungry Island with the likes of Bizzy Caroline who has the advantage of a graded stakes victory over the Mrs. Revere caste.
It was on 18 June when Bizzy Caroline romped to the finish  line with a big late run to win the Grade 3 Regret Stakes by 2 ¼ lengths in her stakes debut.
Fred and Buff Bradley’s Groupie Doll is also a tough contender in the lineup. The 3-year-old William Bradley trained filly ran second in her last two starts.
Second in the Charles Town Oaks at seven furlong at Charles Town racecourse, and also finished second in the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland on 22 October, 2011, behind the winner Great Hot.
Prior to these two races, Groupie Doll ran a big race in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes at Ellis Park on 13 August, over at a mile on dirt as she covered the mile distance in 1 minute and 37.37 seconds.
