I'm booking a flight for my friend who's Brasilian. I'm not sure whether to put Ms or Miss as there is an option for both and she's not sure either. Anyone know?

  1. Have a look at your passport... there is no title on there.  It really doesn't matter what you put, as long as it is a title for the correct gender!

  2. on safe side just put miss and she will smile won't mind it.

  3. Whatever you prefer.  In terms of etiquette, a Miss is someone who has not been married, a Ms is someone who has been married and then divorced or someone who is of a certain age and never married.  In this day and age, many women prefer Ms to Miss as they tend to feel more mature.  It is whatever you prefer, there is no right or wrong, as long as the name on the passport and the name on the ticket, that means first names, surnames and any middle names are exactly the same, you do not need to worry.

  4. I work for American Airlines. For all airlines there is a big diffence. Miss is for underage females that are 17 and under. Ms is for females that are 18 and up. It wont matter how you do it online if you put in Miss and it needs to be Ms the airport will change it for you with out any problem. Hope this helps.

  5. It doesn't matter much - it's just personal preference. Do you care if anyone knows if you're unmarried? If you don't want to broadcast your marital status, pick Ms. Otherwise, it doesn't matter at all.

(Ms. can mean either married or not - Miss is definitely unmarried - Mrs. is definitely married. Personal preference to use the Ms. or the appropriate alternative)

  6. Ms. can be used by married and unmarried women. :-)
