My friend's cat spilled mt. dew on her laptop I suggested taking off the keys and wiping it away. Here's her reply: "The stickyness is gone, I wiped it down with a wet, warm rag...but what about the screen? It looks like the majority is on the low light setting it's not plugged in, and the other side is really bright."

What should she do?

  1. Thats no good at all, I mean out of all sodas you had to spill the dew on it.

  2. try getting a strong wet  towel first, but hold on wring it until its dry and a bit wettish too. then wipe the screen carefully make sure its not on the sensitive parts or it can be a disaster!

  3. Replace the laptop.  Water\liquid damage isn't cheap to fix, if it is fixable.

  4. best buy will repair it for 15 dollars i had the same thing happen sooo shes fine :]:) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

    and also people told meee

to use a hairdryer it did not workk errrr

  5. buy a new one

  6. contact warrenty supplier, hopefully she got accidental protection...

  7. First of all, you can kiss the motherboard good bye.  Then You take it in for repairs.

  8. blow dryer quick you are a girl so you have one right just dont melt it

  9. hmm...Id say Just send it back too get it fixed [or] Sellthat Labtop and get a new one.

Thats all you can do - pretty much. Im sorry.

  10. Go to a computer store. Make sure you wipe all the dew away, from the main screen and if you can, depending on what kind of a computer it is, remove the frame and wipe around there.

    Hope that helped.

  11. the best advice i can give her is to take it to the place where she got her computer from. they can help her fix it or get a new one. also, she should try wiping off the screen with something like iCleaner that wil clean her computer screen. maybe the mountain dew only coats half of the screen. hope i helped!!! :)

  12. If it some how leaked into the screen then she will have to get that professionally fixed.

  13. I would say just be happy that it still works, other than that i dont know.

  14. take it back to the store where she bought it and see if they could fix it. obviously pop got under the screen.

  15. im glad u care for ur friends.

  16. buy another computer..

  17. right, first things first...

    1. tell her that in future, when her cat comes prancing over, she should move her stupidly placed cup of whatever mt. dew is.

    2. tell her to get a yahoo answers account for herself and stop costing her friend 5pts.

    3. i dunno, wipe it?

alternatively she could throw the f*cked laptop at her kitty and tell it that if it ever pulls a stunt like that again, then the cat will drink the rest of its mt. dews from a tippee cup or maybe eat the rest of its meals through a straw.

  18. Call wherever you got it.. Insurance should cover whatever damage is done to it.. Accidental damage might not be on your insurance but they should fix it.. the inside prob got wet.. Try turning it off and not touching it for a few days let it dry out and if that doesn't work you should def call your provider and have it fixed

  19. take it to someone who knows what the f*ck theyre doing

Coffee, soda, beer, and other liquids spilled on your laptop can badly damage your system and result in costly repairs. For Dell computers, liquid spills are not be covered by your warranty unless you purchased Haverford's recommended Dell laptop warranty package, Dell CompleteCare. In the case of Macs, liquid spill damage is not covered by AppleCare warranty. If you need help for your Mac after a liquid spill, Haverford's Apple technicians are happy to help you disassemble, clean, or repair your machine at the rate of $40 per hour.

In the event that you do spill something on your laptop computer, you can minimize damage to your machine if you follow these steps immediately:

Unplug your computer from the wall and from any other devices connected to it.

Turn off your computer and keep it off. Avoid the temptation to check on your computer. You could cause further damage.

    Take out the battery.

Carefully wipe off any liquid on the outside of the computer with a soft, dry cloth.

Allow your computer to dry for at least 48 hours before attempting to turn your computer on.

Partially open your laptop and stand it up on either short end (illustrated to the left). This will help your system to dry out and drain.

Make sure that you store your computer in a safe, well ventilated place -- do not place a bath towel or other flammable material under or near your computer.

Do not use a hair dryer or fan to dry your computer -- it may damage to your machine.

If you turn the computer on before it is completely dry, you could cause additional damage to your system.

If your computer does not boot or you notice a problem, bring your computer to Helpdesk in Stokes 204 during Help Desk hours. If you are away and cannot get to the Help Desk in person, call us at 610-896-1480 for advice on your best option.

In the case of a liquid spill, it's always in your best interest to seek help from the college before you contact your service provider.

  21. you should probaly take it to a computer  technician instead of trying to fix it yourself you might make it worse than it is...

  22. throw it in the lake and get a new one

  23. At chool.. i heard my teacher talking to the comp people tellin them that she had a leak and water got all over the computer....it was out for 3 months then it came back to life

Heres what the computer person said: if you spill water, try t dry it and it will also air dry and very likely work again....but spill soda or anything other than water and ur toast

BUT UR FRIEND MIGHT GET LUCKY.....I WISH HER MY LUCK

  24. wipe it off with a damp towel, if it still looks messed up you should take it to computer geeks or some place like that and get it checked out.

  25. tkae windex and a soft cloth and wipe the screen

  26. Remove the power and then take it apart and clean it with a commercial cleaner like fantastic.  Let it DRY.  Then put it back together.

  27. I hope she had a warranty on that thing. She's going to have to return it. It's only a matter of time before the thing shorts out (its already showing signs w/ the whole side going dim and whatnot). Sorry but it's toast : (
