  1. From the Swiss city of Luzern (Lucerne), there are two ways up Pilatus. The first, is by cable car. This is listed on the Pilatus website as the journies beginning in Kriens. To get to Kriens, from the Luzern train station, take tram #1, direction Obernau, and get off at Kriens. You will easily see the cable car. The whole way, round trip, is 64 CHF. Halfway up to the toboggan run, Fräkmüntegg, is 38 CHF (roundtrip). The second way up Pilatus is by cogwheel train from Alpnachstad. Alpnachstad is a small town just outside Luzern. To get to this starting point, take a local train from the Luzern train station (don't leave the station) and you will easily find the start. This will get you to the top, if you're afraid of the cable car, but does not get you to the toboggan run.
