  1. Consider how long you want to do martial arts.

If you want to get good quick but burn your body out fast: Muay Thai

If you want to get good slowly (Tai Chi takes about 10 Years to become good at) and train the rest of your life: Tai Chi

Note on Tai Chi: Ensure the Tai Chi school you consider actually teaches Tai Chi with the martial aspect. Most schools don't teach Tai Chi as a martial art.

  2. neither one is similar at all.

  3. Muay Thai gives excellent results fast for fighting and for physical conditioning.  Taijiquan (pinyin method of spelling Tai Chi Chuan) will also give excellent fighting skills and health benefits, but will take longer.  And as was said earlier, you will be able to practice Taijiquan until the day you die.

The Chinese martial arts consider four basic aspects of combat: Ti (kicking), Da (striking - hand techniques), Shuai (grappling, wrestling, and throwing), and Na (seizing - locking joints, muscles, breath, and blood).  Whole martial systems can revolve around only one of these four aspects.  Taijiquan, when done properly with the right instructor, teaches all four of these.  And it does so to a very in-depth level.  This is why it takes so long to become proficient as a martial artist in Taijiquan.  It's like a quadruple major in college.

However if both arts suit you, there is nothing wrong in training both.  Just have the discipline not to confuse concepts.  And better yet, see through to the deeper concepts that unite all martial arts.  The Muai Thai will enable you to fight sooner and the Taijiquan will give you a deeper understanding of combat overall.  It may also propel you into deeper ways of understanding yourself.

    Good luck.

  4. Muay Thai man, its great and it can take you far if thats the road yu want to take

  5. Decide based on your own personal goals.

    Muay thai

Extreme conditioning, effective defense, pretty fun in my personal opinion. You get a tough not just strong body.

    Hihgly external martial art.

    Tai chi

Relaxed. Concentration is highly internal. High focus. Benefits included improved reflexes and improved blood pressure

I suggest you try both. Then decide for youself

I wish you luck and hope i helped
