When you have someone in the clinch, can you prevent them from just ducking down and backing out of it?

Secondly, are you leaving your body open for punches?

  1. You usually are pulling down on the guys head, so basically your controlling the guy, and the body, yeah a few shots might get yoou but thats what the elbow.forearms are for.

  2. When you have someone in  Muay Thai clinch, once your hands are locked you anchor your elbows down to put pressure on the opponent. The pressure will prevent him from just pulling out.

You would be open to punches if you aren't doing anything offensively. But when your throwing knees into someones midsection it is pretty hard to throw punches,

  3. When you have them in the clinch you should bring your elbows together so they can't pull their head out and pull them down so they can throw any knees. While they're bent over like that their punches won't have much power and you're not really open to any anyway.

  4. Exactly what they said, and keep the elbows very tight. Try a drilll with a partner, such as swiming through the other guys arms to establish the clinch, when your in one. Work up to the point where you have enough control.

    Push and pull.

  5. the key to keeping someone in a clinch is to not try and stand there holding them.

jerk his head, move him around, keep him off balance...he cant fight you anymore.

like the first guy said...keep your elbows down and squeeze them together.

from so close he cant knock you out with punches. the key to this is to again...be offensive...the best defense is a good offense. throw a few knees in to his ribs/face...wherever...and he'll be more worried about blocking and defending.

and really...i WANT you to duck so i can smash my knee into your face.
