Muay Thia bands ??

i have seen a few photos of muay thia fighters with bands around their biceps both sides what are they called , what do they mean , just tell us about them cheers aye

  1. These r the Pra-jead bands and there r not used for decoration. Thailand is 90% buddist and they wear those bands as a charm from budda asking him to protect them. They also wear this in remembrance of their teachers who pass their teachings to their pupils. Ever thai boxer is FORCED to wear this. If it was for decoration then wearing them would be optional.


  2. They had significance a long time ago and now are worn mainly for decoration. Some fighters wear them in remembrance of a friend or teacher (Khru). Officially the bands can be worn during the Wai Khru only (respect to the teacher). These days I see fighters wear them during the match.

    yeah you are right...but im not buddhist and i wear them...so one could consider them as decoration... .what you say is correct, but i think even the buddhist could consider them as a decorative band along with what you said, because they do look pretty sweet :P
