Mucho Macho Man could go for the Met Mile as his next start
Dream Team One Racing Stable and Reeves Thoroughbred Racing owned 4-year-old colt, Mucho Macho Man, started off his new campaign in emphatic style, with 2 wins in as many starts, the Florida bred has set the Gulfstream Park’s dirt course ablaze each time
he raced over it this new campaign.
Technically the Katherine Ritvo trained posted his hat-trick in his last race, when he downed the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap, defeating the fast and furious, Tackleberry in the stretch, while Jackson Bend who got stretched out, finished a close second
on 10 March, 2012, at about a mile which was covered by Mucho Macho Man in 1 minute and 35.50 seconds.
According to trainer Katherine Ritvo, the son of Macho Uno, out of mare Ponche De Leona by Ponche, Mucho Macho Man came out of the Gulfstream Park Handicap in good condition, but the conditioner is unsure of his next start, though there are some possibilities.
Right now, Mucho Macho Man is scheduled to go for the Grade 2 Alysheba Stakes at Churchill Downs, over a distance of 1 1/16 miles over the venue’s dirt course on 4 May, 2012, but that is one possibility, but if Ritvo decides to go for the Grade 1 Metropolitan
Handicap. (Met Mile) then they might scrap the Alysheba and train for the 1 mile long Belmont Park feature on 28 May, 2012, a race for 3-year-old and above males.
He might face a serious lineup in the Met Mile, his old nemesis Jackson Bend is pointed toward the race if everything goes according to plan, on the other hand the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes challenger and winner, Shackleford will be up for it.
The second place finisher in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Stakes, Caleb’s Posse is also pointed toward the race, and the runner, who has been awfully silent this campaign, Boys at Tosconova, could find a second wing going in the race, as he exits a win in a Gulfstream
Park allowance race on 27 January, 2012.
The other two possibilities for Mucho Macho Man could be a run in the Stephen Foster Stakes at Churchill Downs, or the Suburban Stakes at Belmont Park.
