Mucho Macho Man’s rendezvous at Belmont Stakes
The 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes and final leg of the Triple Crown maybe unique in that it may mark the first time when all first seven position holders of the Kentucky Derby will compete in the Belmont Stakes.
The first seven to make it to the wire include Mucho Macho Man, Nehro, Animal Kingdom, Santiva, Brilliant Speed, Shackleford and Master of Hounds.
Mucho Macho Man, winner of the Risen Star Stakes will have the services of jockey, Ramon Dominguez, who more regularly seen riding, Alternation.
But after Alternation pulled out of the Belmont Stakes, Ramon Dominguez was available to take on any other mount. This was confirmed by Dominguez’s agent, Steve Rushing.
Alternation was dropped from the Belmont Stakes as his trainer thought there was too much burden on the colt. He intends to give him a break in favour of racing him in the latter part of the season, which includes races such as, the Breeder’s Cup, the Travers
Stakes, and, the Haskell Stakes.
Ramon Dominguez is the winner of the 2010 Eclipse Award Winner for Outstanding Jockey. He has enjoyed 147 starts. The jockey was born on November 24, 1976. His love for horse racing started at the age of 16 when he started riding in his native land, Venezuela.
Ramon Dominguez achieved his 4000th win on March 19, 2010 at the Aqueduct Racetrack.
Mucho Macho Man has recently been given a set of synthetic glue-on shoes to avoid any further bad encounters with shoe losses.
The Kathy Ritvo trained colt had suffered mishaps and a subsequent show of staggering performances at both the Preakness Stakes and the Louisiana Derby because of shoe losses at both the races.
He lost his left front shoe at the Louisiana Derby and the right one was lost in the Preakness Stakes. Katherine Ritvo commented on this “I think we have the shoe situation under control for good”.
The Preakness Stakes had the colt finish sixth. The three year old bay colt was third in the Louisiana Derby.
Mucho Macho Man earlier has been riding with jockey, Rajiv Maragh, at the Pimlico Race Course. Maragh rode the son of Mucho Uno in his previous four starts. Macho Uno won the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile.
Mucho Macho Man enjoyed two wins of his ten career races. His earnings total $610,643. He was bred by John and Carole Rio in Florida and is capable of leading despite facing impedances. He is a large, long striding horse, capable of showing gallantry, this
makes his trainer hopeful of him winning the Belmont Stakes.
