Muck ‘N’ Brass leading the line-up for the Jogforjockeys.IE Race at Fairyhouse
Jogforjockeys.IE Race will be hosted by Fairyhouse over seven furlongs on Wednesday, 13th June. Participating for the €10,350 prize money are seven three-year and older contenders.
Muck ‘N’ Brass, Aussie Rules’ three-year-old bay/brown colt out of mare, Crystal Springs, dominated the seasonal debut. He was the 4/11 favourite winner of the Follow Dundalk On Facebook 3YO Maiden on 6th January at Dundalk over a mile.
He was paired up with Johnny Murtagh for the race and the two led the runner up, Atticus Finch, by two and a half lengths. Catching up with the third slot behind the winner was Gilt Edge.
He is the most lightly raced entry for the race and has only raced once during the previous season, that too was a decent experience as he finished third in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2YO (C & G) Maiden on 9th December, 2011 at Dundalk over a mile.
Different from the first two cases, this time the three-year-old will be racing at a new venue but with same jockey, Johnny Murtagh.
Another candidate for the race who has the ability to bag the race today is Banna Boirche, Lucky Owners’ six-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Ziet D’Alsace. He has been active nine times during the new season. Out of those starts, he could only manage claiming two races.
He kick started the season on 5th January in the Longines Master Collection Moon Phases (Handicap) at Meydan over a mile. He ended seventh in a race that was won by City Style. The 5/2 favourite of the race, Start Right, finished third behind the winner.
His first success of the season was in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap on 4th April at Dundalk over seven furlongs. With Shane Foley onboard, he yanked away the race from the 13/8 favourite runner up, Billyford, by a mere head’s margin.
Till yet his last win of the season was in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Package Handicap on 13th April at Dundalk over a mile. Finishing the closest to the winner was Elusive Ridge while taking up the third slot was Billyford.
It will be first time during the season today that he will race at Fairyhouse.
