Mudassar Nazar did not expect England to crumble so badly – Cricket News Update
The former Pakistani all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mudassar-Nazar-c77867 was not expecting the English team to capitulate so easily in the Test series against Pakistan, and praised the performance of Misbah ul Haq and his men.
The Green Shirts defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and company in the three-match Test series by an emphatic margin of 3-0. No cricket analyst in the world was expecting Pakistan to whitewash the number one ranked Test team of the world but Pakistani spinners thoroughly
dominated the English batsmen in the series.
Mudassar, who is currently working at the International Cricket Council Global Academy, has also coached the Pakistan team in the past.
The former all-rounder is of the opinion that England has never been a good team when confronted with Asian conditions. England failed to make an impression at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 and was also whitewashed in the One Day International series later
in the year.
Mudassar feels that Pakistan was expected to give a tough time to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but a whitewash was surely not expected, considering the sort of form England has shown since the last couple of years.
Ex-Pakistan coach said, “They went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for an ODI series and were whitewashed, and then they came here and this has happened – so in a way a loss wasn't wholly unexpected, but no one expected England to fold so meekly in UAE – that is a total surprise.”
However, Mudassar does not want to take any credit away from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team especially the bowlers. He believes that the performance of the Pakistani bowlers was extraordinary, and the English batsmen could never recover after the debacle of the first
Test.
“They have some quality batsmen but the impact of the 1st Test loss was too much to bear – with obvious benefits for Pakistan. All Pakistani bowlers such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 bowled well and there was some assistance from the pitch –
the ball was turning but not that sharply,” former Pakistani cricketer added.
The limited overs series between the two countries is going to start on the 13th of this month and it remains to be seen that how the two teams shape up in the shorter format of the game.
