The right-handed batsman looked in brilliant form with the bat, playing an influential role in Pakistan’s victory in both the One Day International (ODI) and the T20 International series. On top of that, Akmal looked pretty safe behind the stumps.
While speaking to Pakpassion, the former cricketer from Lahore, who is not happy with the performance of the specialist wicketkeepers in the last 10 years, expressed that Umar was pretty reasonable behind the stumps in the Caribbean.
“I didn’t see too much wrong with his keeping. Ever since the departure of Moin and Rashid we have been struggling for a keeper,” he said.
Umar came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country, having represented Pakistan in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2008 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in

Mudassar still has doubts over Umar’s ability to keep wickets in the longer format of the game as it requires a completely different set of skills.
The former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 coach added, “In Tests however, he needs to prove himself as a Test batsman once again. He had a great start but he’s lost out in the middle. And on top of that, keeping for a couple of days on the trot is something he has never done
so that’s a different thing altogether. But in one-day cricket and in T20Is I don't mind him keeping for Pakistan.”
