Muffin Mcleay likely to prevail in Core (Oil And Gas) Ltd Handicap at Musselburgh
Muffin Mcleay looked progressive last year and therefore, the bookies are expecting him to make a winning comeback at Musselburgh on Friday, May 04, 2012.
The four-year-old will be in action in the Core (Oil And Gas) Ltd Handicap, which is scheduled to start at 15:30 GMT. The 1m1f event has attracted a dozen of powerful runners, who will compete for a purse of £5,175.
Their names are: Muffin Mcleay, Borug, Judicious, Staff Sergeant, Mullins Way, My Single Malt, Lucky Windmill, Oriental Scot, Collateral Damage, Botham and Euston Square.
Muffin Mcleay went on a long vocation after presenting a couple of brilliant performances last year. The bay gelding grabbed his maiden success in June 2011, when he outpaced the 2-5 favourite, Striking The Wind, by seven lengths
in the Patersons of Greenoakhill Open Maiden Stakes at Hamilton.
He went on to deliver another reasonable performance later that year. The Scottish Trophy Handicap saw him missing the top spot only by a few lengths. The David Barron-trained is likely to repeat the show, but it will be interesting
to see how he keeps his head high.
Since most of his opponents are not in winning rhythm these days, it is a great opportunity for him to resume his journey with a bang.
Borug is struggling with his form at the moment. After staying out of action for almost six months, the four-year-old made his seasonal debut last month.
Standing Sire whatacaper.com Handicap saw him ending up third on the chart. If the bay colt improves his work today, he would be a huge threat to Muffin Mcleay.
Staff Sergeant is another dangerous candidate. The five-year-old is making his comeback after staying out of action for more than six months.
Jim Goldie’s trainee made his previous trip in October last year, when he could only seize fifth place in the John Smith's Redcar Straight-Mile Championship Final at Redcar.
Staff Sergeant and Borug are certainly two strong contenders, but our vote goes to Muffin Mcleay. David Barron’s trainee has the highest chance of pocketing the winning cheque. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
