Despite the argument between Aamer and Ponting, no official action was taken against any player and only a warning has been issued to the left-arm bowler.Aamer dismissed Ponting in the 17th over on the first day of the Lord’s test. Then like his usual celebration, he ran towards his teammates to celebrate, making contact with Ponting which was a mere brush of elbows. It was enough to get the Australian Captain angry, who was already under pressure because of Pakistan’s unexpected good form. Ponting complained to on-field umpire Ian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Captain-Gould-c41006 as he made his way off the pitch. According to Gould, the clash was unclear and as a result no action could be taken. A similar incident had taken place with Michael Clarke and the 18 year old Aamer who was so excited after taking his wicket that he crashed into the batsman who was leaving for the pavilion. Even though he apologized immediately, it was noted by the officials.
Referee Broad said that there was no reason to take action against the inexperienced youngster, dismissing the Ponting incident as an accident and not serious enough to be considered as a breach of the International Cricket Council code of conduct. He did however stress that the incident should not take place in the future. The umpires had a word with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367, exciting, talented player full of enthusiasm for this great sport and that is to be celebrated and nurtured. But there are a few things he still has to learn in relation to how to conduct himself on the field of play,” Broad told reporters.
“I told him that when he takes a wicket, he should celebrate with his teammates rather than getting himself into the personal space of the outgoing batsman. It's a spirit of cricket issue. It has happened twice now so we as a playing control team thought it would be sensible for me to have a word with him,” Broad clarified. He further said that after the talk with captain Waqar Younis, Aamer had good-heartedly accepted the advice and had said that he would be more careful in the future.
“It has happened twice now so we as a playing control team thought it would be sensible for me to have a word with him. He accepted it graciously and undertook to avoid a repeat occurrence. As far as we are concerned the issue is now closed.” Broad said. Going with the theme of the tournament, which is being dubbed at the MCC Spirit of Cricket Series, the issue was very well handled. Fortunately, the Australians didn’t make too much of the situation, the umpires were understanding and Aamer was apologetic. It will be interesting to see how things take shape and how Aamer’s celebration is different in the remaining matches of the Test series.
