Joe Louise is from Philly why does Rocky a Fake boxer have a statue in philly and Joe Louise does not?Didn't he stand with America and fight in the war opposite of my hero Ali Who did not only for Joe to come back and live the hard uncharmed life he left.Joe Louise broke the jaw of the loudest protesting televised black figure in the world only to, in all of his loyalty be ignored? Is this the deal.Well tell me the deal.

  1. Joe Louis never actually fought in the War although he did enlist in the Army during World War 2. He was mostly used as a celeberity and would travel to the USO shows during world war 2 to support the troops.


  2. Yes, Joe Louis was in the army during WWII. He did many exhibition bouts while he was in the service to entertain the troops.

    Unfortunately for him, when he got out, he discovered that he owed a bunch of taxes that he couldn't pay. He thought the government would forgive him the debt considering that he fought so many times for the troops for no money, but the IRS went after him anyways.

    I think it was an absolute betrayal, considering what he did for the US during the war and also because he beat Hitler's champion Max Schmelling which was a political coup for the U.S. as well.

  3. Joe Louis joined up and fought exhibitions to keep up morale. Jimmy Bivins was made "duration" champion while Louis was in the army.
