The legendary heavyweight champion boxer, Muhammad Ali will return to his home in Louisville to celebrate his 70th birthday. His 70th
is being seen as another milestone in the legendary boxer's life.
The boxer has had a peculiar fascination with his hometown, Louisville. Ali is staying in Arizona and will fly back on the eve of his birthday bash.
"Louisville was the first to support Muhammad in his pursuit of gold," Lonnie Ali, the wife of the boxer said on Saturday evening while talking to the media.
"It is only fitting that Louisville and surrounding communities participate in this important celebration to mark his 70th birthday."
She also dubbed the birthday event as a “retrospective look and celebration” for the glorious Ali’s life.
On the occasion, Ali will be accompanied and greeted by the friends and people who supported him throughout his life.
"It's significant for anyone to turn 70 years old," Kahnke said.
"But for such a global icon, who has literally touched the lives of millions of people, it's a momentous event to celebrate." Kahnke serves as the spokeswoman for Ali Center.
Both, Kahnke and Lonnie Ali, opined that Ali has a strong sense of belonging towards community. The boxer always tends to share his moments of joy with his family, friends, fans and the community.
He is a well-known figure for extensive philanthropy and social activities.
Ali embarked on his boxing career in Louisville in the 1950s as an amateur and ever since that start, he never looked back and rose to the pinnacle of fame and glory.
He is considered as the all-time boxing legend. The quality that distinguishes Ali from other boxers is that even his staunch critics cannot help but appreciate his achievements.
Ali was nicknamed as “The Greatest” for making several historic boxing matches.
He has a total of 61 fights throughout his career and won 56 of them. He won 37 fights by knockout and faced only 5 losses, no draws or no-contests.
In 1970, Ali further grew his reputation as one of budding legend after making the fight of the century against Frazier.
