Muhammad Ali’s legacy to be celebrated in Las Vegas – Boxing news
Legendary Muhammad Ali’s life and legacy is planned to be celebrated tonight in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.
Various heavyweights and celebrities are expected to join the event to celebrate Ali’s life and achievements.
Muhammad Ali is known as ‘The Greatest’ the world of boxing has ever seen. Rasheda Ali, one of Ali’s daughters, says that this event is meant to celebrate her father’s achievements in the boxing world and as a philanthropist. Ali, who is suffering from Parkinson’s
disease for more than 20 years now, was once the most recognised face on the planet. He has fought seven prize fights in Las Vegas out of which two he lost by the end of his career.
The ceremony which is being held in Ali’s honour will be attended by more than 2,000 well known faces including former and current boxing heavyweights and celebrities. It should be noted here that Ali turned 70 last month and held a small fundraising event
at his hometown Kentucky. This event is of a larger scale meant to raise funds as well.
On his social working achievements, his daughter Rasheda said, “He has not left that need to help others. That's one of his core values -- his charity and his giving.”
Not only figures from the boxing world but also from Hollywood will be joining the event. Some prominent names among the guest list include David Beckham, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Hopkins and Stevie Wonder. Possibly, all such prominent celebrities will
have their say for Ali in the ceremony. Ali, who retired with 56 wins, 5 losses and 37 knockouts in his bag, was once the most popular athlete and his legacy will love forever.
Ali faced fierce fighters like Foreman and Frazier in his career and emerged victorious over them. He was known for his stamina and resilience. No fighter to date has come to the level of Ali. This event is meant to raise funds for the Cleveland Clinic Lou
Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Ky.
The event will be one of the most prominent ones of 2012 and will see many celebrities and fighters sharing the same tent.
