Muhammad Rijal – Debby Susanto steal limelight at Chinese Taipei Open Grand Prix Gold
Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto, who are among the most spirited shuttlers in Indonesia, showed their presence felt to the world and finally won the much needed title in Mixed Doubles category at the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open 2012 last week in Chinese Taipei.
Rijal and Debby, who are currently ranked at number 13 in Mixed Doubles world placements, have been struggling hard for the last six months and finally stole the limelight by putting up spectacular show in the final battle of the tournament and wrapped up
the title in a dominating manner.
The in-form Rijal and Debby were the top seeded players in the tournament as they played with precision throughout the competition and remained successful in emerging at victorious without dropping down even a single game in all of their matches.
Top seeded Indonesian shuttlers were in remarkable form on court as they played with precision and confidence throughout the competition and they easily managed to grab the title in the most dominating fashion which shows that they are ready to take bigger
challenges.
In the opening round of the competition, the impressive Rijal and Debby got bye for being the top seeds. However, they had to face the experienced country-mates Markis Kido and Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth in the second round of this competition.
Rijal and Debby put up spectacular show of dominating badminton while playing against their highly aggressive competitors. They remained at the top level while playing on court and remained successful in beating their challengers with a phenomenal margin
in straight games.
In the Mixed Doubles quarter-final contest, Rijal and Debby took on Mohd Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid and Vivian Kah Mun Hoo of Malaysia. They were in smashing form in this battle and did not make any error throughout the fight and eventually remained successful
in winning the match with a completely one-sided fashion in straight sets by a stunning margin on score board.
In the semi-final clash, Rijal and Debby were up against their fourth seeded team-mates Riky Widianto and Puspita Richi Dili who were also in remarkable form. However, the higher ranked Indonesian shuttlers showed up their tremendous craft on court and maintained
their upper hand on their rivals.
Rijal and Debby were ahead of their challengers by playing attacking and positive badminton and managed to stamp their supremacy on court by ending up the battle in straight games with a one-sided margin on score board.
In the final battle of the tournament, Rijal and Debby were taking on Hong Kong’s Chun Hei Lee and Hoi Wah Chau who also remained aggressive and positive in the whole tournament. However, the Indonesian shuttlers proved their mettle in this title match by
playing to their best speed and kept their rival’s under pressure.
The impressive Rijal and Debby did not show any respect to their lower ranked Hong Kong challengers in the final battle of the tournament and remained successful in winning it with a spectacular margin in straight games.
Rijal and Debby won this title at the right time as they needed elevation to remain in the top-20 bracket in the Mixed Doubles world rankings and their recent performances have established their worth in Indonesian squad. They have achieved the highest class
skills and have become the potential contenders for all major tournaments in the arena of badminton.
