Muhammad Rijal–Debby Susanto advance into Mixed Doubles final at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold
Indonesia’s experienced players Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto advanced into Mixed Doubles final after giving a severe treatment to their lower ranked compatriots Riky Widianto and Puspita Richi Dili in semi-final encounter at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton
GP Gold 2012 on Saturday, December 1, in Macau.
The in-form Rijal and Susanto, who are the third seeded players in the Mixed Doubles draw of the tournament, played terrific badminton and easily ousted their sixth seeded opponents Widianto and Puspita in just 29 minutes.
Rijal and Susanto were in remarkable form as they did not face any problem from their challengers in the semi-final battle and easily ended it up in straight games with a one-sided margin on the board.
In contrast, the lower ranked Widianto and Puspita failed to pose threat to their in-form team-mates as they failed to put up strong show in the arena and eventually crashed out without taking any advantage of their impressive skills.
In the first game, Rijal and Susanto played with superb control in their powerful shots and managed to dictate the affairs from starting points.
The incredibly fast tempo of the rallies and the aggressive play of Rijal and Susanto helped them in creating pressure on their lower ranked compatriots who failed to respond quickly.
Mustering it further, the in-form Rijal and Susanto continued playing attacking game without showing any respect to their rivals and set up a huge lead until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, the higher ranked Indonesian shuttler stayed fully focused denying their opponents to fight back in the game. They took the first game with a staggering margin of 21-7.
In the second game, the underdogs Widianto and Puspita played slightly better game but they were again in problem as they failed to construct any lead until the end of first half.
After the break, the third seeded Indonesian duo remained on track by playing at the same speed and managed to bag the second game with a 21-16 score on the board.
Rijal and Susanto won this semi-final encounter in a dominating fashion as they easily trounced their lower ranked compatriots with a spectacular margin of 21-7 and 21-16.
