Muhammad Sajjad beats Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed in quarters: 2012 Seven-Nation Snooker Championship
After showing a superb comeback in the quarter-final encounter of 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-nation Snooker Championship, former Pakistan National Snooker Champion, Sargodha’s Muhammad Sajjad was able to beat the Egyptian potter Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed by
the score line of 5-3.
The Egyptian potter, Ibrahim, put Sajjad under immense pressure when he displayed an outstanding game play and fired a couple of tremendous knocks in the early frames.
Sajjad, on the other hand, had no chance to capitalise back in the first session of the best-of-nine frames match. The Pakistani potter bounced back into the game at the state of second session and swept the table in no time to claim the quarter-final victory
over the Egyptian.
The former National Snooker Champion stayed focused during the match and cashed his chances to get back into the game. The Egyptian cueman could not pull back his previous form in the second session and tumbled down quite easily in the match.
Ibrahim dominated the first scrappy frame with a superb score line of 1-97 after pocketing a classy break of 97 points. Despite slipping one frame down, Sajjad was not feeling any pressure and stayed on the table. He won the second frame by an easy score
of 74-34 after potting a couple of decent breaks to pull level at 1-1.
The third frame was a bit tussling as both potters went neck and neck to snatch the lead but Sajjad prevailed in the end by 54-50 and grabbed the lead by 2-1.
In the next two frames, Ibrahim played beautifully and smashed sensational clearances to click back-to-back frame wins and move within one frame lead over Sajjad by 2-3.
At this stage, the match up seemed slipping out of Sajjad’s hands but the former National Number one girded up some energy and breezed back into the game with some cracking knocks. He responded back with a rattling century break of 107 in the sixth frame
to equalise the scores at 3-3. The seventh frame was even easier for him which pushed him into one frame lead at 4-3.
The eighth frame proved to be the last of the match because Sajjad did not let Ibrahim come at the table and kept the strike to clean the table by 83-28. With this splendid victory, Sajjad has successfully made his way into the semi-final stage of the 2012
Jubilee Insurance 7-nation Snooker Championship.
