After weeks of hard work, it has all come down to the wire as Negeri Sembilan prepare to take on Terengganu in the Malaysia Cup final. The Sembilan skipper, Shukor Adan, has already termed this clash as one of the spectacles of Malaysian football.
The two teams will lock horns on Saturday, October 29, in their bid to be crowned Malaysian champions.
Most of the football pundits are tipping Terengganu as favourites to win title, despite Sembilan’s outstanding form throughout the campaign.
Adan, on the other hand, has declined claims of being the underdogs and is confident of winning silverware on Saturday. He urged his players to be on their toes from the opening minute and adapt an attacking approach, as they had been doing throughout.
The skipper also pointed at the importance of striker Ahmad Aminuddin Shaharudin for Saturday’s game. The player was recently reported to have suffered a slight groin niggle but has been passed fit for Saturday’s all-important encounter.
While talking to New Straits, the 32-year-old further enthused, "I don't think anyone could ask for a bigger or better final. There is no doubt the two best teams have made it to the final. Terengganu are the ultimate. They are the best attacking team in
the country.”
If Negri are able to win on Saturday, it will be Shukor’s fourth Malaysian Cup title, having previously won twice with Selangor.
The proud captain concluded the talks by saying, "It will be my seventh http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Malaysia-c2949 Cup final appearance and I am determined to make it a happy outing. My most cherished moment was helping Negri end their 61-year drought in the 2009 final and I want to help
them win the title once again."
Adan will also be looking to make amends for his mistake last year during the same competition when Kelantan were able to score a last gasp winner due to his lapse in concentration.
Shukor landed at Tuanku http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Abdul-Rahman-c3289 Stadium in 2009 and earned his international debut for Malaysia in 2001. The midfielder has 58 international caps for his country until now and has bagged three goals in return.
