Muhammed Lawal: Jon Jones is beatable provided Rashad Evans comes up with a better plan - UFC news
Muhammed Lawal, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, recently shared his views on the upcoming Rashad Evans - Jon Jones bout and said that there is no such thing in this world as unbeatable or invincible.
He added that in UFC 145’s light heavyweight championship brawl, the man with the best game plan and strategy will win the bout.
Lawal, who is also considered as a fast friend of Rashad Evans, is currently facing a one-year ban and is recuperating from a life threatening staph infection. Widely known as ‘King Mo’, the 31-year-old brawler was recently asked to share his views on whether
Jones is really invincible and hard to be nailed or not.
Jones is scheduled to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans, his former friend and current arch rival. The bout will headline ‘UFC 145’ and will take place at Philips Arena situated in Atlanta, Georgia on
April 21, 2012.
Jones had made himself a pretty intimidating resume. The 24-year-old fighter has accomplished much and boasts a streak of emphatic wins.
Jones has nailed Ryan Bader, Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson, and recently conquered one of the most feared names in mixed martial arts, Lyoto Machida. These accomplishments have somewhat made him a super human brawler who cannot be pinned.
However, Lawal does not think so. During the interview, King Mo gave many examples corroborating his claim that there is no such thing as unbeatable. He pinpointed Mike Tyson’s defeat by the fists of Buster Douglas and the famous Greco-Roman wrestler Aleksander
Karelin’s lose to Rulon Gardener.
King Mo emphasized that the man who comes up with the most optimum plan always wins no matter how powerful, agile or athletic his opponent is. At the end of his short but philosophical interview, Lawal said that he fully supports his man Rashad and trusts
that he will win.
Lawal commented, “I think Jon Jones is a great fighter and I think Rashad is a great fighter, but I think of styles and if Rashad has a great plan he can win. Same thing with Jon Jones, if he has the fight game plan he can win. But, I’m going with my boy
Rashad, I’ve known him since college. That's my brother right there.”
Rashad and Jones formally were fast friends and even trained together under the supervision of Greg Jackson who has decided to stand at Jones corner for the April 21, 2012 headline bout. Jones has a 15 wins out of a total 16 bouts and Evans has collected
17 wins from a total 19 bouts.
