Muhammed Lawal gives insights on how Brock Lesnar can beat Alistair Overeem – UFC News
On December 30, 2011, two of the biggest names in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will go head-to-head at UFC 141.
Dutch mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Alistair Overeem will face American MMA fighter Brock Lesnar in what is anticipated to be the biggest heavyweight bout in recent UFC history. The entire UFC and MMA community has been buzzing about this fight ever since
the UFC confirmed the bout a few months ago. Every fan, critic and analyst is giving views regarding the outcome of the fight.
American MMA fighter Muhammed Lawal, on December 26, 2011, talked about the fight while he was invited in a radio talk show. Lawal had the view that Lesnar can beat Overeem if the American fighter does a few things right. Lawal, nicknamed, King Mo, expressed
his own experience in a way which could be beneficial for Lesnar.
According to the insights given by Lawal, Lesnar would have to keep deceiving Overeem in the early goings of the fight. He should take a solid stance in the ring and intimidate Overeem as much as he can. For that, Lesnar would need to use his fake jabs.
Lawal has the view that if Lesnar fakes his jabs by pushing his punch but retrieving it half way down, he can keep Overeem guessing. This way the Dutch MMA fighter would stay on the defensive until Lesnar actually punches him in the head.
Lawal gave emphasis on the fake jab move because this will give Lesnar the edge he needs. Lesnar and Overeem both are massive, strong and none of them would go on with the first strike because they would take a solid stance before making their move. For
Lesnar his fake jabs would provide him with enough time to adapt the ring and his opponent. Overeem would keep guessing when Lesnar would throw his punch and when the time is right, Lesnar would strike.
The 30-year-old Lawal also said that Lesnar would need to focus on his takedowns. He has been successful in taking down his opponents in the past because of the brute force his exhibits in the fighting cage. Lawal cautioned that if Lesnar is unable to takedown
Overeem in the early parts of the bout, then Overeem can possibly pressurize Lesnar later in the fight.
