Mukhadram set to challenge Al Kazeem in Coral-Eclipse - Horseracing News
Mukhadram is all set to take on Al Kazeem in the Coral-Eclipse (British Champions Series) (Group 1) at Sandown in England.
According to the talented colt’s racing manager Angus Gold, “We are taking on the best older horse in Europe again in the shape of Al Kazeem, who I think everyone is underrating. Mukhadram ran a fantastic race at Ascot to be second
to him and afterwards William spoke to Sheikh Hamdan and said he would like to run him here.”
He went onto admit that beating the favourite stallion would not be an easy task, as he is in spectacular form at the moment. However, the track conditions are really good because of the dry weather and anything could be possible.
William Haggas, trainer of Mukhadram, added about his challenger, “He's a strong galloping horse, I can't see [Hanagan] holding him up. I don't know whether he's moved forward but he's still quite slightly raced. Three runs ago
he finished fifth in the Cambridgeshire so he's moving in the right direction. I thought Paul rode a really good race at Ascot.”
Despite such a strong showing at Ascot, Mukhadram was unable to catch Al Kazeem, as the latter of the two was in sublime touch. Although he had not been given the best odds for victory back then, he proved his critics wrong and
took control of the proceedings right from the start of the race.
Once he got into the lead, no one was able to pressurise him and he finished on top of the table by a neck distance. With the help of the victory at Ascot, he got the attention of the punters for the Coral-Eclipse and his rivals
are looking worried about the current situation.
However, Mukhadram’s camp is upbeat about the overall position, as he too is a very good performer. He has got a pretty decent record and has been delivering some decent results in recent times.
The four-year-old stallion has won thrice out of seven competitions and is looking to improve his strike rate by winning some important races in the ongoing season. He also has a couple of runner up positions to his name, so his
confidence level will be good right now.
