  1. 2 to 3 days in the sun and the smell will be gone.It just needs to dry out.

  2. Water, water, water, soak the manure well continually. The idea is to leach out the manure to neutralize it quickly.

Another suggestion which I use in my barn is cedar wood chips. These chips can be purchases at your local feed store and they are cheap. A 2-3" layer over the top of your manure will stop the stinky smell in it's tracks.

    Happy partying!

  3. Don't try vinegar.  I saw someone else posted that it actually can kill your plants.  You can use it VERY diluted and it will probably work quite well but not full strength vinegar.

  4. Give it a couple of days.  The smell will go away once the sun is on it and it dries out a bit.  Mulch is always a little damp when you put it down.  The dampness makes it smell.

  5. Try some vinegar. But the smell will subside in a few days.

  6. It will air out by then.

  7. Let it dry out.  The smell should just stop once its been down a while, a day or so.  Unless you used composted steer manure.  Not good.  But if its just mulch the biological action will stop and the smell will disapate in the sunshine.

And don't waste time and money putting gravel over mulch. You'll find the gravel will just sink and it will end up looking poorly.

  8. Depends a little on what you actually used as a mulch. Sounds more like manure or compost. Although some mulches have a musty smell. Cedar chips or cedar mulch top dressed over it should fix the problem.

But why are you going to put the stone over the mulch? Sounds redundant. If you are planing to use stone as the mulch, you should add landscape FABRIC (not plastic!!!) between the soil and the stone. Pin it securely to the ground. Be sure to get the edges and overlaps down. This is the only time I use FABRIC (not plastic!!!). But I would not bother to add mulch also. You will not see it after you cover it with stone.

  9. Spread some baking soda over it.

  10. just let it dry out and the air will make the smell go away

  11. Well in this case the mulch will stop stinking. Because it was probally fresh mulch. Yep.. thatz a stinker. If the mulch Dont start not stinking put 1 of 2 things on it water orrr baking soda i recommend baking soda.

  12. when SPREADING MULCH YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR A MASK OR BANDANA OVER YOUR MOUTH TO PREVENT BREATHING THE FINE MATERIALS THAT ARE FLOATING AROUND IN THE AIR. JUST A REMINDER.
