second and third goals in the dying moments of the first-half were vital in securing the win as it put a lot of pressure on the visiting side.
The midfielder stressed that it was a crucial victory and is confident of the team’s chances of lifting the Champions League crown. He added that Bayern totally deserved to win against the Swiss opposition and hailed the team for
a determined display.
“We applied pressure and we varied our play. The second and third goals before half-time were important, it was a shock for Basel. The whole team had the right attitude today and we were in good shape. A fully deserved win,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 22-year old admitted that he was relieved after scoring in the game. He admitted that it was a very good feeling to find the net in such a crucial game and is hopeful that he will continue his form in the remaining games of
the season.
“I saw that Arjen had the ball on his not especially weak left foot. And then I caught it perfectly. I had a little bit of a shiver down my spine after scoring. It was a fantastic feeling,” he concluded.
Thomas Muller has thus far made 97 league appearances for Bayern Munich and has scored 28 times in the process.
