Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller has warned his side against complacency as the Reds start their new season on a winning note.
The Bavarian giants will be looking to make a strong comeback after a woeful season last term. The Reds were runners-up in as many as three competitions last year and once again failed to win a single trophy.
The failure forced the club to make some high profile signings in the summer transfer window as the likes of Mario Mandzukic, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 joined in.
Thomas Muller is optimistic regarding his side’s chances in the upcoming campaign. He admitted that the opening clash against newly promoted Greuther Furth will not be an easy tie as the opposition will be determined to make their
mark in the Bundesliga.
The winger added that Furth will have a point to prove in front of their home fans and is certain that the team will not go down without a fight.
“A tough match. Furth are riding a wave of euphoria after gaining promotion and they'll do whatever they can to keep a clean sheet at home. They'll be up for it and they'll push us all the way,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the German international stressed that his side proved their class in the Supercup game against Borussia Dortmund. He stated that the 2-1 win against the German champions will give the players great confidence
to perform once the season begins this weekend.
“We played really well as a team in the first half against Dortmund and basically shut them out, but we weren't as determined in the second half and gave up too much space, partly because we tired and Dortmund applied more pressure.
But it's not a problem at this stage. Overall I think we're in good shape, and of course the season is still young,” he concluded.
Thomas Muller will be fighting for a place in the starting line-up with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 and Xherdan Shaqiri once the Reds start their campaign this weekend. The player has not been in his best form for a while and will
be looking to prove himself.
