Multi Bene looks the one to beat in 32Red Handicap at Kempton
Following an excellent effort at Wolverhampton, Multi Bene deserves the highest respect in 32Red Handicap at Kempton, this Thursday. The 3-year-old is a progressive fellow, who is on the up these days.
His progressive journey came to a halt in October, when he completed the order of finish at York. An awful outcome, however, did not affect his confidence, as he came up with an outstanding act last time out.
In the 32Red Handicap, he led early on. In the hands of Graham Gibbons, the Ed McMahon-trained remained in total command until the final furlong, when Robin Hoods Bay surpassed him. As a result, he missed the gold medal by three quarters of a length.
Owned by Mrs Richards & Mrs Brazier, the bay gelding has shown several good performances so far. He opened his account in great style at Yarmouth, when beating Intomist by half a length in June.
On his sole venture in August, the son of Multiplex remained slightly unlucky, as he finished second by a neck’s distance at Bath. The Mickley Stud-bred quickly put his campaign back on the winning ways, and registered his second triumph at Thirsk in September.
It was a fortunate success for the big fellow, as the margin was just a head’s distance.
Multi Bene is in fine momentum, looking good to take another big step in the right direction. He is facing no easy opposition though. Guest Of Honour and Saharia are the ones, he needs to stay cautious of.
Guest Of Honour has reached here after taking a comfortable win at Wolverhampton last month. It was a welcome win for Marco Botti’s charge, who suffered a couple of defeats at the start of his career. He is on a fair mark for handicap debut.
Saharia is C&D winner, and looks in good momentum at the moment. The 5-year-old could make the life of his rivals very tough, if he succeeds in taking a good start. A lazy effort in the beginning will hurt his cause badly.
The 1-mile event will be started at 18:00 GMT. The class-4 meeting carries a prize of 4,075 pounds. Good luck to all the contestants.
