How do you make a multi-byte character on a US-generic keyboard? Like Kanji or Mandarin Chinese?

  1. Unfortunately, there's not an easy way unless you already know the numeric code for the letter, such as 14952.  (Example:  32 is the space key.)

If you know the code, you can hold down the Alt key and use the number pad (not the numbers on top of the keyboard, but the number pad to the right) and punch in the numeric code.  Make sure to include any preceding zeros, such as 0425, since they have an impact.
