Question:

Multi-colored (cafe au lait) skin?

I am now 25 . since I was born, the skin of the right side of my body has 2 colors (cafe au lait) in irregular patterns, they are a bit darker than the overall but there is a "vitural line" that goes right in the middle of my body splitting it to uniform and non-uniform skin colors. it is NOT contagious but it's always there and it does not go away.... and I hate it. I went to 2 dermatologists about 10 years ago but said they can't do anything. Does anybody know if that has a medical/technical name and if I can get rid of it ?

any help is appreciated. thanks

  1. Your condition doesn't sound like 'cafe au lait' spots that occur in multiple neurofibromatosis.

You could be having 'chimerism'. I am just gussing. But if the condition is asymptomatic, why bother. You could use some cosmetics to hide the spots or go for skin grafting.

  2. It sounds like vitiligo. See website below for more info. I do believe there is no treatment.
