Multi engine block time?

I am thinking about buying a 50 hour block of a light twin to build hours for a regional. I found a place that offers 50 hours for $6,500. Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper. Also, does anyone have any ideas about building multi time without getting your MEI?

That is extremely cheap for 50hrs. I know you said without getting MEI, but for alittle more you could get your MEI and come out with about the same hours, and then you could instruct, make money, and build even more hours.

Don't pay for time.  What are the regionals going to think when there isn't a company name attached to those hours?  

Also you usually get what you pay for.  A friend of mine put a bunch of cash down for his private license at a company that could do it for cheap (thousands cheaper than the competition).  The owner was able to give cheap rates because he was running drugs to supplement his income.  He was caught, arrested, and the school shut down without paying back the students.

Try AriBen Aviators in Florida.  I know a few people that bought their time there.  I believe they paid about 8k for a 100 hour block.

I personally thought it was more cost efficient to get the MEI and actually get paid to build my time.  I spent about 3k on my checkout/MEI training and then build about 350 hours of multi- time over the next year (that was back when 500 was considered competitive).

But if you insist on doing it the easy was, give them a look.

Work for a charter operation.  Work your way into a copilot position.

As long as you're paying to rent a light twin, you should be working towards your MEI at the same time.  Just joy riding to build multi time doesn't help improve your chances for employment.

Don't Pay for hours. Look around to flight instucting. You can fly multi engine there.
