Multi-photo compressor for Mac?

I run Leopard on a MacBook Pro, so I'd think there's some way outside of photoshop to batch compress photos. I can compress them through photoshop CS, but I can only do that one at a time, and I have about 1000 pictures that I need to decompress. Anyone know how? Thanks in advance
