I am very interested in buying a projector to show dvds and cable television in my house. I would like some pros and cons to these projectors and is it worth buying a cheap projector as apposed to a cheap television. I was thinking with a projector i could get a large screen size for cheaper than that same size LCD. please help

  1. I saw your question earlier, here's your answer.

The best connection is with a HDMI connection between your TV and projector. You can also run HDMI from your DVD player if it has a HDMI output.

HDMI ( high definition multi interface is here now and will be the wave for many years. You might as well invest in it now in order to enjoy true HD audio and video resolution.  Blue Ray has the market but I would wait until the end of the year to see Blue Ray DVD players come down in price. Blue Ray offers full HD 1080p image.

On the projector front, as long as you have a unit that has 2000 contrast and a DLP chip, you'll be surprised at the brightness and clarity of your image. Better than the theater.

I'm upgrading soon to Blue Ray ( waiting for movies to come down in $ ), I have a BenQ - DLP 2000res with a 108" screen. Audio is a Sherwood THX tuner 6.1 with Infinity Primus theater speakers. When the T-Rex puts his foot down, it sounds pretty good when the water puddle vibrates. The picture even in dark lit scenes is highly clear. The DLP chip makes this possible.

  2. it depends on how dark your room is, you can buy a projectore that can play in lighted areas but it still wont look as good as a lcd would but if you only watch tv at night then i would get the projector but then you also need a good screen to have the depth of the picture, displaying on a wall is okay but you wont get the same effect. I would go with the lcd just so i could watch tv day and night and have no problems.
