Question:

Multiple leg muscles twitching?

For the past three months I have been having issues with my legs. It began with my left IT band. I eventually began having stabbing pains in my left glut when I'd walk. That is now gone, but my right IT band has began to bother me as well.

Now for the last two weeks or so I have numerous muscles twitching in my legs. They twitch from the upper part of my thigh on down to my calves. I have a few muscles that twitch in my abdominal area as well. I am drinking a lot of water but it hasn't seemed to help.

I get aches and pains in various areas of my legs as well. I just do not understand what the heck is going on.

Can a potassium shortage be causing all of this? I bought some fruit (bananas, pears, blueberries) yesterday and have incorporated them into my diet. So far no improvement. I am also stretching frequently.

  1. I am going through a similar problem myself. IT can be a cause of many things. You need to ask your doctor to check your blood for b12 and thyroid, as well as a test for diabetes. If all that comes back o.k. your next step should be a CAT scan, or an MRI If you have taken the antibiotic Avelox lately, you need to check into that. It could be a reaction.
