I have a ac-er aspire t180 computer and it has alot of problems.

1) my computer freezes up on me with everything that i do. Usually I'm on the internet or playing a game when it freezes up and I don't know why. any reason why this would happen?

usually when the computer freezes up i restart it by holding the power down then i turn it back on well the past few days it has been alot slower then usual getting back on.

When I turn my computer on the Acer screen pops and stays on for like 2-3 minutes when before it took like a second to pop over to windows. I've checked all my plugs to make sure everything was plug in correctly and of course it was but it's still not working.

It just happened like a hour ago (on my moms computer) and neither my mom nor I know how to fix it so we haven't taken anything apart. But when I turn it on I can feel the fan in back but i can't hear anything ( like it trying to load windows ) Please need help thanks

  1. Your computer may be overheating. Open the case and buy a can of compressed air (Wal-mart or Best Buy usually carries it) and blow out the inside of the case. It may be filled with dust and restricting air flow.

DO NOT USE AN AIR COMPRESSOR OR A VACCUUM CLEANER!!!

An air compressor could have moisture in the tank and that would not be good for the boards and a vaccuum cleaner could create static which could fry the components.

  2. Spyware, viruses. All that c**p.

Go to Geek Squad which is usally at Best Buy.

  3. search google for spybot and install that. Have it inspect your computer then fix selected problems and immunize. Next obtain a virus guard or update the one you have.

Finally run scandisk then defrag, these should be on your computer under Start > Programs > Accessories.  Finally delete your temporary internet files, this will speed up web searches.

  4. You prob have too many programs running at start-up using up the cpu, look on the taskbar next to the clock, they are all programs currently running.

  5. It could either be a serious case of trojans or you're hd is damaged.

  6. First of all if you're playing games online, make sure your processing speed can handle it. If not your computer will slow and even stop because it cant process the info. Next, try a virus scan, malware, trojans, and spyware slows and kills computers. (I use Avast.)

You may also have to empty your temp files and defrag your harddrive. Just run your disk cleanup program.

If you're running windows try" windowsupdate.microsoft.com/".

OH YEAH... Shut down your computer properly if possible... Its not good to just turn it off all the time.

Worst case scenario... your hardware is dying... but most likely not.

  7. It could be many things but it's more than likely an easy fix. It's probably spyware, adware or malware,or a combination of those.Run full scans with both of these, they're totally free.

    www.superantispyware.com

  8. There are a few things it could be, a faulty hard drive (or corrupt boot sector on the hard drive), faulty RAM, and or a faulty IDE/Sata cable. Dust build up inside the tower can also do things like that, as dust insulates and does not allow heat to escape, causing overheating components.

This is one of those things you have to trouble shoot one step at a time. There is no easy definate answer, although it may not be a serious problem, only trying certain things will solve it, and most require going inside the tower (computer).

You did not indicate whether you get a BIOS post or not, if you do with beeping then it is most likely a hard drive problem, if you do not and the computer beeps a series of beeps, they tell you the BIOS error code, if no beeps it could be many, many things.

I disagree with some previous posts, and do not believe that it is spyware or a virus, as usually Windows has to be running for them to do anything, and you indicated it did start previously, just slowly.

Acer is what I consider a quality product, and usually are not a lot of problems.

  9. You have spyware and viruses. Download the yahoo toolbar, and get the spyware plugin. you can run scans with that. also, download ad-aware. all are free. and get an antivirus program. there are many free ones such as avast anitvirus. Also, after every time you browse the web, delete your history and cache.
