Question:

Multiple satellite dish / location - one account?

Looking to possibly switch from cable to satellite at home (possibly Bell ExpressVu) with 4 receivers. Have a cottage and was wondering if I could take a receiver there and purchase an additional dish from Bell (do they allow that?) If not could I buy my own additional dish and still take a receiver to the cottage to use while there?

Is this allowed?

Thanks

  1. Yes, it's allowed.  You are paying for the service, as long as you are using an authorized (paid for) receiver, there shouldn't be a problem.

The only potential hitch I can see in the plan would be, how far away is the cottage?  Satellites use spot beams so that they can reuse the channels and increase the capacity of the satellites.  The beams are quite large, but if you move out of your spot beam (like the cottage is in another state), then you could lose your local channels.  But, all the national stuff should still work.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a best answer from all of those submitted.
