Multiply & Divide Fractions?....need hlep plz?

how do u find the answer to this, then reduce to lowest term........can u plz explain it step by step how u found da answer.......

multiply

2 over 5 times 3 over 4

Divide

8 over 9 divide by 4 over 5

  1. this is a very simple question!

    so this is what your problem looks like:

    2 *      3=      6

    --  ..--  ..--

    5 *      4=      20

    all you do is divide the top 2 numbers together to get the solutions top number. then you do the same to the bottom. now its all about simplifying.

    Make a list of all the factors to each number.

    6: 1,2,3,6

    20: 1,2,4,5,10,20

    now you have to find the greatest common factor, which in this case is 2. Now divide each number by 2 (the greatest common factor) to get your simplified fraction.

  2. 1 - 2/5 times 3/4  =  (2*3) / (5*4) = 6/20 = 3/10

    #2 - to divide fractions you multiply by the reciprocal of the second one  8/9 times 5/4 =   (8*5) / (9*4) = 40/36 = 20/18 = 10/9
