  1. I'm going to add parentheses to make it clear how I read the problem...

    (36y^2)/(4y^2-8y+4) * (4y-4)/(6y)

    Multiply the numerators and denominators....

    ((36y^2)(4y-4))/((4y^2-8y+4)(6y))

    Now, factor the numerator

    (6y)(6y)4(y-1)

    and the denominator

    4(y^2 - 2y + 1)(6y)

    4(y-1)(y-1)6y

    ((6y)(6y)4(y-1))/(4(y-1)(y-1)6y)

Now, you can cancel like terms  (4, 6y and y-1) to get...

    (6y)/(y-1)

Note that since you divided by 6y and y-1, you need to add the caveat that y <> 0 and y <> 1

    So your final answer is....

    (6y)/(y-1) where y<>0 and y <> 1

  2. 36y^2 / 4y^2 - 8y + 1 * 4y - 4 / 6y

    9y^2 - 8y + 4y - 4/6y

    9y^2 - 4y - 4/6y
