  1. You will need to go to the county court to get an N244 application form to fill out as soon as possible to stop any repossession, if you are unemployed you do not need to pay the fee.  Speak to the mortgage company and see if they can extend the mortgage so the arrears can be spread out over the term of the mortgage, if unemployed and you purchased the house before Oct 1995 you can get some help with your mortgage payments now.  If property purchased after Oct 1995 you will have to wait sometime before you could get any help.  Hope this information is helpful.

  2. I think you have a few options here.  Firstly I would put my name down for a council house and then get an estate agent in to value the house and see if you could sell it and make a profit - to prevent repossession. The Halifax are good at coming out and giving a free valuation of your home and they will also talk to you about alternative arrangements which they can do to help you. Hope you get things sorted.  Sori to hear about your mum.

  3. Wasn't there some kind of thing where if a mortage payer had died, the house will automatically be paid off or something ?  Not sure on this, not sure if it automatically applies or if you need to request something like this.  I know that a friend of mine was paying part mortgage with her husband and her father - in-law, the father-in-law had died, and the mortgage payments now stopped, because of a death, so the house is now theirs, and no more payments.  Not sure if I'm making sense here lol.

Go to Citazens Advice, and go on the council list.

You all need to stick together and help out as much as you can.  Are any of you in full time employment ?

I hope you get something sorted out !  I understand this is a bad time for you all, I'm sorry about what has happened to your mum !  You will all get through this so try not to panic !

  4. Could you rent out a room or two to bring in some money and let that help pay the mortgage for you?  Also contact citizens' advice quickly, before the situation gets any worse.

Good luck,  and sorry to hear about your mum.

  5. I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, times must be very difficult for you at this time.

You need to do as much as possible to keep the house, it will be the best for you and dad, also that's what mum wanted or she would not have got a mortgage.

If you have already been down the Insurance road, go to the Citizens Advice Bureau, they are brilliant, and will guide you through the steps.

Taking in a lodger is also a good idea, it will help with the bills. Good luck
