Mum wont let me go vegan =[?

ive been vegetarian for 8 years, im 13 now. im almost in tears when she wont let me go vegan. im fighting a loosing battle, but i wont give in until ive completely run out of things to say.

she says why do you want to go vegan? and i say because milk has pus in from the electrical equipment used by dairy farmers which hurt cows udders. because calves are taken away from their mothers 1 day after birth so the mum can produce milk for us. the calves live 16 weeks on a diet of pure milk in veal farms in crates they cant turn around in, before being killed. leather is flesh. wool is not needed by us. we dont need eggs to survive. you can hatch some store eggs, meaning i could be eating a baby hen!

but she just doesnt reply and goes back to doing whatever shes doing, and feeding me pizza with loads of cheese, sandwhiches with cheese and butter and stuff. its not fair.i have to bring the subject up, or theres no hope of me being vegan. give me a super amazing point to argue!

thanks =]

  1. so your research and set her down tell her this is something that is important to you and most parents want there children passionate about something, tell her this means something to me. Show her the info even if she doesn;t want to see it, alot of people are in denile about this stuff. Tell her also what you will and will not eat, try to even make a grocery list for her and make it to where its not much more or less than she is paying at the store now, even offer to go help get things. She  will come around end the end once she sees that your serious.

  2. I'd stop eating.

  3. If I were in that situation, I would just refuse to eat.

Tell your mom to respect your beliefs. Make her listen to you. Nobody has the right to force you to eat what you don't want to.

She should understand if it means that much to you.

  4. If she won't even listen to your reasons, it's gonna be tough.  You can try to just start pulling the cheese off the food she provides, or offer to cook yourself.  It may sway her, or it may just p**s her off.

Sorry I don't have any great arguing points.

  5. I'd have to agree with Tradition is not Scientific.

People actually go on hunger strike, so that might actually get your mom to take you seriously.

But, remember, if you do something like that : don't starve yourself or make yourself sick.

  6. Your mother is not going to listen to a bunch of emotive language about cruelty.  You need to have a rational adult discussion with her.

If you want to be Vegan show her  meal plans & recipes for a month detailing what you are going to eat ensuring that you are getting the correct amount of calories & vitamins etc. You should also list where this stuff will be bought, how much it will cost.

I assume at 13 you don't have your own independent income so your mother is going to be buying this stuff. I doubt she's going to want to spend all her time wandering in and out of expensive health food shops and planning your meal plan. If you can prove to her that you've actually considered the practical implications of this she might reconsider.

If not you've only got another three years until you can get a job, move out and eat what you like.

  7. Just refuse non-vegan foods.  You'll still have plenty to eat.

  8. If you feel that strongly about it, go on a hunger strike.  She can't force-feed you.  Just flat-out REFUSE to eat anything that once had a face and a mother.

But what will really change her mind is a documentary called "Earthlings".  Show it to her.  I guarantee it'll make a difference.

  9. i wouldn't listen to her. she cannot force you to eat milk, cheese etc. she might get mad at you and take you to a dietitian, but in the end if you want to you can become vegan whether your mom said no or not.

  10. your a growing child. You should eat a wide variety foods ensuring you have the needed nutrition.
